Coincidentally (isnt coincidence a cool thing...*smiles*) i jus recently found a Youtube video that jus somes up the whole "away with aid" lets empower our people, especially the most vulnerable to do it for themselves, because we know they can. I post it jus now. It really somes up the idea quite nicely. If such ideas could be upscaled. It shows how a little nudge in the right direction can change the lives of the poorest among us.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14615615629943526240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-983015314873397143.post-59127901165835566582013-05-07T11:29:12.595+02:002013-05-07T11:29:12.595+02:00I found your blog by sheer coincidence, through on...I found your blog by sheer coincidence, through one of the articles Food & Trees for Africa highlighted. :)

I couldn't agree more with you. I always feel uncomfortable when global stats are reflect improvements, and fail to adequately acknowledge regions that are not better off. It bothers me that not only the world, but ourselves as Africans have forgotten that our strength lies in our 'social capital' and have fallen prey into the western way of development. It also bothers me that somehow we have been dis-empowered and led to believe that only through aid can we be able to lead better lives.

Its time that we let go of the pity party that is foreign aid, and begin to look at the strengths we posses in our own communities and see how we can multiply that to win back our capabilities.

"No amount of external resources and support without local initiative and citizen inspired transformative involvement will suffice."

Thanks you for the article, it cannot be said enough...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03023847221130103189noreply@blogger.com
